Relocation

So things have been a little quiet around here lately and I haven’t been posting as much as I want to. I haven’t been actively reading or commenting on other sites or articles either, which is a little different from my usual routine. In fact, I haven’t been spending as much time in front of a computer at all recently (which is arguably a good thing anyways). Outside of work lately, most of my time online has been spent checking emails and very casually sifting through my feed reader.

I’d love to say that I’ve been filling my time with much more important things, but that’s really not the case. The truth is that I’ve been feeling a little burnt out lately… no pun intended. For those of you who don’t know or haven’t heard yet, the building that our office was in actually burnt down last month, so it’s been a crazy time. Thankfully everyone was OK, but it’s been a rough go lately (at least emotionally) for all of us.

Anyways, now that we’ve been in our new permanent office for a few weeks, things are starting to get back to normal again. Any time you’re thrown into a sudden change (as opposed to jumping into a sudden change on your own terms), things are bound to feel a little bit uncomfortable and that’s definitely been the story for me over this last month.

So, if you’ve been wondering where I’ve been lately and why there haven’t been any updates, I’d probably have to pinpoint that unfortunate incident and the aftermath that it has caused as the root of the answer.

Things are looking up though! As I mentioned, it’s starting to feel a little more normal around the office lately. We’re getting accustomed to our new digs and things are getting comfortable again so I’m hoping that this feeling of fatigue is one that will disappear shortly. I’ve got a lot of things I want to do around here in the coming weeks/months that I could really use the extra energy for. I do have some holidays coming in the next couple of weeks as well that should help me recharge and refocus, so that will be nice.

Hosting Update:

Continuing on with the theme of ‘relocation,’ I just wanted to post a quick update on my site’s hosting situation. Back at the end of March I wrote about my recent less that satisfactory experiences with DreamHost. Well, I’ve since moved my site over to (mt) Media Temple and I’ve got to say that it’s been a great experience so far. I have no major complaints whatsoever and after a few initial hiccups in the first week, it’s been pretty much smooth sailing. I will eventually write up a more thorough ‘review’ of my experience with (mt), but for now I thought I’d just let anyone who’s interested know what’s going on. My thanks to everyone who offered suggestions and their personal experiences with other hosts as well, it helped make the decision a little easier.

Sorry to hear about the office burning down, but luckily no one was hurt. I look forward to reading more from you. I check in quite often, especially during football season.

Me either… I am liking the Pats odds at deposing the Colts as Super Bowl Champs.
